With the general rise of conservatism, nationalism, clerofascism and the rampant disinfo scene, the voice of the so-called anti-gender movement is growing. Although anti-gender does not have a specific definition, the basis of their narrative is the existence of a global spin that intends to subvert the "old welfare family".

According to the scholarly work of sociologist Eva Svatoňová, the anti-gender discourse is an umbrella for homophobia, among other things. "Around 1995, the language used to talk about queer people is changing. It stops referring to these people as a minority and starts referring to them as a powerful pressure group. In the Czech-Slovak public space, this language begins to appear around 2010." 

The suppression of minority rights starts the process of demolition of democracy. That is why it is necessary to stand up for LGBTQ+ rights early. It is only a step from gay rights to suppressing abortion rights, banning sex education, etc... Rainbow Skull is therefore not only a symbol of support for LGBTQ+, but an icon of defiance against the anti-gender movement in all its forms.

We can see where hatespeech, Christian bullshit and misinformation can push a society just in the neighbouring Slovakia, where two visitors to the Bratislava gay club Tepláreň were murdered in 2022 (RIP).

The skull was colored at the moment when an absolutely demented debate on marriage for all was taking place in the Chamber of Deputies, in which the troglodytes from the KDU-CSL in particular excelled. Our colourful icon is therefore not so much linked to the ongoing Pride, but opposes long-term campaigns paid for, among other things, by Russian money.

The Rainbow Skull trick, in addition to visually supporting LGBTQ+ in public space, is to support the Jsme fŕ project, which seeks marriage for all. So 100 CZK from every t-shirt sold goes to this project. You can also support the We Are Fair initiative individually at www.jsmefer.cz
